    4 way trim view definitely won’t appear – Avid have a patent on it. Discreet Edit got away with using the idea but I can’t see Apple doing the same 😉

    Charlie,

    One more thing on trims and clip collisions. If you select an edit point with the Rolling Edit tool and hold down Option, it will select picture and sound tracks. Then a head trim affects both, but you don’t have a clip collision. Also if you use the Selection tool and trim only the video track (positive head trim with linking turned off) the trim works without a clip collision, but leaves a gap in the video tracks.

    This thread is nearly dead, but wait! What about z axis in the motion effects (DVE). That would surely help out animation elements without having to jump to different programs. And heck, they might as well give us null objects, parenting etc. Ok, enough.
    Overall, I still think FCP is a great application.
