Watching the posts about the 5.2 update. If I go to software update, FCP isn’t showing up for some reason. I’m getting a bunch of other updates related to it but FCP but not Final Cut itself. Hmmm?

go to apple support, then to software, then to final cut pro, and the update will be on the side bar.

Once there you will need to have your apple id and serial number handy. And then you can download

    There isn’t a 5.2 update! its 5.1.2

Also have you done the crossgrade etc? If you have an older copy of FCP, say 5.0
then the upgrade might not work

[Peter Wiggins] “If you have an older copy of FCP, say 5.0

It won’t work period. You must have FCP 5.1 installed for this update to work. 5.0.4 was the last update for FCP 5.0.

    Walter,

Well I was initially going to say “If you haven’t got 5.1 you are s****d”
but I thought I’d be a bit more subtle 🙂

I’m running 5.1 crossgrade right now. It’s registered with Apple. I just went to Software update under the Apple menu. I’m actually in the middle of a project right now(several actually) so I was just looking to see if the update was available. I’m not going to do the upgrade until I finish up what I’m currently working on. I also have the software for the crossgrade for my home system (just got it this week) but haven’t had time to do it yet.
I’m more curious than anything. Just wondering why it wasn’t showing up under the software update pulldown.

check you are running QT 7.1.3….if you dont have that installed the update won’t show as it is a requirement. I’m holding tight till i get the go ahead from capture card provider BMD.
