March 29, 2007 at 5:06 pmThe first thing you could try is to trash the FCP preference files then start FCP again. Here’s how to do it the right way and the reasons why you need to trash the pref. files occasionally:

March 29, 2007 at 6:50 pmNext… look at your memory.
Mac Pro systems have a different memory configuration that any system out there. Look at this Apple doc.

March 30, 2007 at 1:07 amI have seen this happening. It did both unexplicably quit and froze the whole machine- no mouse or anything. I reseated the ram and video card then I re-installed the 5.1.4 update. All seems to be fine now. (we’re on mac pros, 4gb ram, and os10.4.9)

March 30, 2007 at 1:23 amI have had some quits since upgrading to 5.1.3 and then 5.1.4 although 5.1.4 is much better. 5.1.3 would quit regularly.
Trashed prefs etc but I think it is an issue with the software as I haven’t changed anything else on my 2 year old G5 dual 2.5. It has come with the upgrade. Doesn’t happen a lot but seems to happen when I am quickly skipping through clips in the timeline.
Save often.
