  FCP 5.1 HD doesn’t look too HD

  Bought Sony HDR-FX1. Work great shot come out well in SD. HD not sure what is up. I was taping fam event to play and test ouot the HD. Came home. Hooked up the camera to a basic firewire input (I used HDV- 1080i60 Firewire Basic.) Imported the footage but not impressed at all. I used Lumiere HD for conversion before and the shots looked great! Just like what’s on TV. But it is very long to import and go through all the steps and Lumiere has a lot of problems till you get used to it. Bought FCP 5.1 hoping to stop with Lumiere HD. I edit on a 32″ HD monitor and the shots were nothing like i see on TV. All I can figure is:

  1. Importing wrong or using wrong quick set up. But I used what matched the camera best.
  2. Wrong type of wire
  3. Just don’t know

  I would be very grateful if someone could please guide me on this.
