Dude, it’s been saying ‘Processing Order’ since I placed my order last month. It’s when we both see “Order shipped” that you can start getting really excited. Of course, then we have to decide if we really want to install Tiger on our systems or not. Eeeeeek.

May 14, 2005 at 2:34 am[solie swan] “Given how Tiger has turned out, do you have any reason to belive that Apple will release a version of FCP that will have been properly tested and debugged?”
No software is ever completely debugged when it’s released. Considering that Apple was running FCP 5 on Tiger all NAB and I never heard any issues with demos and the like, it should be ok to go. I’ve found that Safari is very screwy since updating to Tiger, but everything else seems to be working pretty well. I now have 2 G5 Dual 2.0’s so I’m going to install Tiger / FCP 5 on one system and see how that works out before installing it on my main system.

May 14, 2005 at 2:50 amConsidering that I have had spotlight problems, networking problems, safari problems, made my machine vulnerable to malicious code with dashboard, FCP preview problems etc. since installing Tiger, I think it is a pretty fair question Vincent. Others have had problems with QT too. While I appreciate that there are point 1 problems I expected more from Apple with Tiger. From what Walter said about NAB it sounds like they may have done a better job with FCP.

May 14, 2005 at 4:03 amYou’re right. Apple has gone downhill in this regard no doubt about it. From the company that says “It Just Works”, it can get annoying.
To fix your Safari problems, call your ISP and get your DNS server addresses and manually enter them into the Network System Prefs. That fixed my problem as well as many others. It sucks but it’s better than waiting 3 minutes for a page to load.
I haven’t had spotlight problems. And as far as malicious code for Dashboard – that’s just being paranoid. Nothing like that ever on Macs.

May 14, 2005 at 4:07 amI’m staying at 10.3.8 until I know Tiger is safe and stable enough to install. Is it me or has Apple’s “latest and greatest” OS seem more like Windows?

May 14, 2005 at 4:34 amIt is a remote possibility but dashboard does expose you to the possibility of malicious code being run on your machine. The following artilce explains it in more detail and a simple step you can take to protect yourself:

May 14, 2005 at 5:29 amGood grief, has ANY new operating system in the history of computing been bug free on release?, you know the risks of any major upgrade – personally I have no serious issues with Tiger – clean install on 2nd boot drive with original system on first boot drive. Very happy whole system runs faster.
