We have a G4 867 running in an off-line room. The computer is running 10.2.8, 1150megs of RAM, 75gig internal HD. I would like to run 10.3.9 with FCP 5.0 on this computer so we can move projects from one suite to another in case of a back log. Right now one system runs FCP 5, the G4 runs FCP 4. Do we have enough RAM to run and HD space to do the upgrade, or is it better to get a larger HD and reconfigure the RAM. I believe the RAM is sufficent, not sure about the HD space to load FCP studio. Any recomendations, thanks in advance.

    Hi,

Your HD is more than big enough for a boot drive. I advise additional drive(s) for media.

    RAM is cheap, add more.

Consider selling it on Ebay and getting a dual g5. If you do a nice add for the G4 and search for a deal on a refurbed or demo or discontinued model it should only cost you $400 to $600 to upgrade.

    Best Wishes,

    Mitch
