  • FCP 5 rendering slower?

I purchased FCP5 a while back but didn’t upgrade because I never had a break in the projects. I finally got around to doing a clean install of OS 10.4.5 and FCP 5.0.4. I did the install on a new hard drive and followed people’s advice about installing from the disk then doing the updates from the web, and reparing permissions.

I’m working on a project now and it seems to me that FCP is taking longer to render than it use to.. Could that be possible?

I still have FCP4 on a different HD and operating system. I guess when I have some free time (ha, ha) I can do a comparison build on both systems.

But I am curious to know if anyone else noticed the difference?

    Thanks,

    David

Actually, it does render a bit slower on any motion effects if you don’t change the stock settings in the sequence video processing tab. If you change that back to “fast” it’s the same quality and speed as FCP HD was. But if you use “normal” or “Best” the Motion renders will be slower, however of higher quality. Other than that, the speed should be pretty much the same.

Is FCP a true universal app? If yes, will running FCP version 5 on a PPC G5 have negative consequence on performance? Thanks
