For all of you FCP guru’s out there we have what is more of an inconvenience than a problem. We are using the new JVC BR-HD50 deck to digitize into FCP 5. We are able to control the deck and digitize the footage in, however when we use the HDV codec we get a blank screen when importing. So we are monitoring from the SD port on a seperate monitor. I know that generally when you get a blank screen it means you don’t have the correct codec, however once digitized we can view and work with the clips without a problem.

We tried using the Apple Intermediate Codec just to see if that would work but then we loose deck control because it just allows a capture now function. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated from the brain trust out there.

This is a known issue, do you have any video cards installed?

If you have digital desktop on, then preview doesn’t work, if you switch it off it should work – it does on our system

The digital desktop is off and it is the same. We can capture and view the clip in the timeline but it is not showing up in the capture window during capture.
