FCP 4.5 RT high quality playback unavailable
What would cause the “high” setting to be unavailable in the RT popup box in FCP 4.5? (I’m using a G5 dual 2.5ghz with ATI 9600xt video card) A book on FCP 4.5 claims this setting is unavailable with certain hardware configurations. What do I need to do in order to utilize this option?

I think you need a beefier graphics card, but I could be mistaken.
The stock card isn’t usually the best for video. It’s great for other things, just not video.

Certain features are not available in the RT drop down depending on your sequence presets. FCP RT loves editing DV as this is it’s native offline set-up. What codec is your sequence? -J
