    Hi,

I’m on a dual 867 G4 with 1.25 SDRAM running OS 10.3.9. FCP 4.5 has been running fine for a year. All of a sudden, without provocation or warning, as I try to open the program it crashes immediately — before even beginning to load up my sequence it tells me that the application has unexpectedly quit. I have tried opening it with and without the firewire drive mounted, with and without any firewire cable plugged in. I have deleted the plist files and the prefs. What I can do is install 4.0 and it opens fine. But when I update to 4.5 the same problem occurs. Any ideas to help me get back to 4.5?

    Thanks,

    Graham

There might be something wrong with the project file that FCP is trying to load as it opens. Try finding some other project and doing the double-click-to-open method (instead of starting FCP directly).

If you don’t have some other project just take the project file(s) that was last open and move it, hide it somewhere. When FCP tries to open and can’t find the project then it should just open with a new “untitled” project.

If this works and FCP opens then you can try doing a File-Open- and see if your project will work. If it crashes FCP or the program hangs, then you will know for sure it was your project file and you can try opening one of the backed-up version from Auto Save.

    Good Luck

    Graham-

I’m experiencing this exact issue. Did you ever get it solved? Otherwise I’m going to start from scratch on the system (new OS, re-install FCP, etc.)

    Thanks!
