  FCP 4.5 capture problems

  Hi all,

  here’s my issue:

  I’m running FCP 4.5 on a G5 2.0 dual 2.5 GB RAM / BM Deck Link Extreme PCI / system 10.4.11 / QT 7.3 Pro.

  I am having trouble capturing (digitizing) footage. It just does not work. After a few minutes the import just freezes, I have to restart my machine manually and throw away these big files that are created and take up the whole disk space. I updated my system only recently. While I was running under 10.3.9 with QT 6.5 everything was perfect.
  The problem persist no matter if I capture the footage via FW, SDI, component or composite to an internal, external FW800 or SCASI disk.

  From what I could add up I think it’s a software problem.

  Is it time to upgrade or is there a way to keep working with FCP 4.5?

  Could it be that the software combination is “lethal”?

  Any response would be of great help.
