FCP 3 Update
I have an older G-4 with Final Cut 3 that I bought new in 2003. I would like to upgrade it and move it to my MacBook that has OSX 10.5.8. The problem is, I lost my disk that I used to install the program on my original G-4. It is registered to me and I found the the serial number on an old receipt. Do you think that enough information to get a replacement disk and upgrade to the latest version on Final Cut? Does anyone have a suggestion on how I would go about doing that?

YOu don’t need to install older versions of FCP to get the upgrade. You just need your older serial number.

About the only thing in my life that is organized is my software serial numbers. I have an excel doc that has them all in it. Normal goes back a few versions. The numbers are more important then the disc IMO.

Nice thanks for the info… I got out of the business for a couple of years and am now looking to get rolling again, which is why my stuff is a little out of date. Apple is telling me that you cannot put FCP on Macbook, you must have MacBookPro. But, I heard that the Macbook will run FCP, but the graphics card in MacBook Pro makes it run smoother. Do I need to break the piggy bank and get the MacBook Pro. or can I get by with just the macbook that I already own?

If the MacBook is INTEL, you are fine. But if not…it won’t work. FCS3 needs Intel.
