  • FCE – problems laying back to Canon HV30

I wonder if anyone can help. I’m trying to troubleshoot a problem for a friend over the phone as they are too far away to physically see the problem…not ideal!

She is using a Canon HV30 camcorder to shoot and import the video – i know this works as i have seen it for myself. Having finished editing, the plan is to record the edit back onto the camera but this is where the problem occurs.

in her words refering to using Print to video…”FCP operates the camera into record mode but nothing actually comes up on the camera screen or tape. It’s very strange because the computer is telling the camera to record and the red light comes on but just no picture comes over.”

I have suggested checking the record tab on the tape and that the camera is in vtr mode not camera mode. I have seen the Print to Tape settings and they look okay.

I do know they used to record to this camera from iMovie, so i cant see a reason why it wont work in FCE.

I’m not overly familiar with FCE, and not familiar at all with the camera..so please, if someone has any insight i would be very grateful.
