Faster Rendering FCP?!???!?
Hi there i created a movie using my Panasonic HVX-200 and a clip that is a minute turns out to be almost a 1gb file. When i pull this file into After Effects I render the files with effects then transfer them into FCP 5. I have to re-render them when putting them into the timeline in FCP. The FCP rendering is taking up to an hour and a half to complete a 1 minute clip ?!?!?!?? The clips are still at their 1 gb total but this is just outrageous for how long this program wants me to wait… on top of this every time that i drag the clip on the timeline it tells me that the file is un-rendered and i have to re-render it …. again!
Any help I can get real quick would be great, I need to finish this project!!!!Thank you ,

Well, what codec did you export is as out of AE? If you didn’t export it back as DVCPRO HD with the same frame rate then you will have to render.
You have to render every time the CLIP settings don’t match the SEQUENCE settings.

How would I export it as a DVCPRO HD ?Kamal

Quicktime is a container…there are DOZENS of codecs that can be in that QT container. After Effects defaults to the ANIMATION codec. You have to go into the OPTIONS when you export and change it to DVCPRO HD.

I see:
– DV/DVCPRO – NTSC
– DVCPRO – PAL
– DVCPRO 50 – NTSC
– DVCPRO 50 – PALBut i do not see a DVCPRO HD ?

It should be below DVCPRO 50. What version of FCP are you running? Does the machine that you are using AE on have FCP installed?

I’m running Final Cut Pro 5
And i’m using AE CS4
I just looked into the FCP 5 and i see the DVCPRO HD conversion
But i do not see it when i try to export within After EffectsKamal

A lot of people on this forum do this all the time. It’s not that hard, but to tell you how to do it in a forum post is a bit like writing a novella. Besides, the specific information you need is in the tutorials & help files that come with FCP and AE.

You don’t export from the file menu with AE, you use the render queue.
The render queue allows you to use any codec installed on your Mac. DVCPro HD should be listed there.
Consult the AE docs on how to queue a comp and how to find & use the various controls & features of the queue.

Is your installed version of AE on the same system as FCP?
The DVCPRO HD codec is installed by FCP. It won’t be available on a system without it.
