  • Failure to Render? Or render preview?

    Hey team,

I’m fairly new at the AE. Trying to understand how to make this thing go.

I’ve been noodling around with the basics for a week now. Learning how to use the graph editor and manipulate basic shapes and motion graphics. Today I was trying to make use of liquid masks for the first time but AE has utterly locked on me.

Obviously, it’s render intensive and I think I understand that. But even after minutes have gone by, I can’t preview “Needs at least 2 frames to preview.”

My computer is a 4.7 GHZ, 40 gig ram setup. I’m sure it’s not an After Effects demon, but I didn’t think it would be a total slouch. I just don’t think I understand the essentials of previewing render heavy stuff yet.

    Any guidance?

    Thanks!

Have you set the preview region? Set the in point with the “b” key (for “beginning”) and the out point with the “n” key (for eNding). There has to be something to preview.
