Failure: Camera stopped thats what I get when trying to export to tape, any ideas what could be causing this?
Just a a outline here is what I do up until I get that error.
1-After editing I export movie to the Microsoft DV/AVI setting with the DV(NTSC} setting.
2- Insert rendered AVI clip into the timeline
3- Export to tape with the boxes “Activate recording device” and “report dropped frames” checked
4- Hit record in the window and watch the anarchy happen, I am exporting the clip through firewire to a Sony DCR-HC30 Handycam, It starts fine and records, then just out of nowhere the counter in the “Export to tape” window will stop and the camera will continue to record briefly, followed soon by a window that states “Failure camera stopped”
Ive tried many times and it will happen at any moment.
After the frustration I backed it up to a extenal hard drive took it to a fellow editor who uses Sony vegas, dump in the clip, vegas does some type of render and went on to the same camera no problem.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

At your friend’s place did you use the same firewire cable and camera as you did at your place? A dodgy firewire cable can cause your concern.

Yes it was the same cable.

Still need to eliminate the firewire card and the PCI bus slot…try the card in a differnt PCI slot and then another card.
