Hi everyone, I’m having the most annoying problem with my fades. What I do sometimes is overlap video events but have each video on a different track. So I’ll put a video on one video track, and then on the above video track I put another video event that overlaps the one below. For that overlap, I will then fade one of them in, and one of them out and I always get a nice crossfade.

But for a project I’m working on, I must have done something wrong. Usually what I see in the fades of each video event, as mentioned above, is one video has ONE line (the fade) going one way, and the other video has ONE line going the other way.

Suddenly EACH video has two lines making it look like a crossfade. One of the lines is blue, and one white. And the crossfading is NOT working. Everything has just gone to a cut. This has suddenly been applied to the entire project and there are DOZENS of these. I can’t even seem to change them manually. Does anyone have any ideas??

Okay, well now I’ve figured out how to get rid of this problem. You just right click on the event and delete it. The video stays, but the extra fade disappear. I still don’t know how it got there though. And another weird thing is that fades seem to be now coming from the entire edge of the video frame – meaning I have to drag the edge to fade or unfade, whereas before, it was the top corner. Now, because of this, I’m having a hard time moving an event or extending it because the fade function is all that responds when I try to drag! The weird part is that I don’t remember doing anything to this project!

The 283 build of Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.0 appears to me to have introduced a new failure mode where an event is duplicated on top of itself on the same track. If you try to slide it, you see the other version staying put underneath, and it seems to have crossfading between the two copies. Weird. Your suggestion to just select and delete the top layer seems to solve the problem. It’s not clear to me just what circumstances cause this to happen to an event.
