    Hey all

So I know Resolve presents colors in an awesome way. When I grade everything look vibrant, rick blacks and so forth. But what is the trick to maintain that nice color when compressing it for the web. Quicktime X just makes it dull and flat sometimes and the client comes back and says can I add more saturation.

i also ask because when I watch movie trailers and downloaded movies in Quicktime -they seem to be very colorful as well-

what am I missing in my workflow?

    thanks

    Matt

If it is my post, I’ve added an update.

Look at these settings in Color Management in the project settings:

Resolve can manage that for you if you are in a hurry or working local TV news, which means you’re always in a hurry. Otherwise, just as Joseph pointed out, make sure your levels are within 64-940 since everything above or below is getting clipped.

    Hi Matt,

that certainly is unexpected. OK, if you don’t care about proper levels for broadcast you can, of course, go to the deliver page in Resolve and tweak the output settings to export the full data levels (in the 12.5 beta you’ll find those within the video panel under advanced settings) instead of “Auto”.

Yes I look at the output options and I set the video levels to 64 and 960 option I took it off auto but there was no option to set the output for rec709 gamma 2.4 -so I hope I did it right –

Now when I Bring it into Premier cc 15 will my video levels automatically be set like that or do I to check something else in premiere

    Thanks

    Matt
