Extremely Slow Export out of FCP 7

Figured it out by trashing the preferences file. It now takes 50min to export instead of 36hrs.

? You’re not going to get faster than realtime export. Even hardware like the Matrox with Max only claims realtime h264 encoding. But sounds like you fixed your problem.

I’m having a similar issue.
It estimates 36 hours to export 13 min of footage in H.264.

estimates 8 hours in DVCPRO HD 1080i60.

33GB free on drive.

Is there a quality export setting that works better? It didn’t use to take this long a month or so ago. Not at all.

Is your timeline fully rendered?

What’s format is your timeline?

Better start clearing out some disk space. You are getting pretty low.

I have been using FCP 6 for 6 or 7 yrs nearly everyday. Switched to 7 and everything great, I just finished 16 Mins of HD footage using four cameras cutting for TV and “wham”, 32 hrs to Export is the time I keep stopping and trying to figure out so in a sense i have wasted 2 days Now I am waiting the 30 hrs.. Is this how 16 Mins is going to be. I did screw the pooch and used 4 different Cameras and all unfortunately were different formats of HD. Main Camera 24 P, one 24 P at 50 Mbd, Go pro at 4K, and Go pro at 30 p..

here is some steps to save your time of exporting.
I am using Prores HQ for Editing. (You can choose your own compressor except H26h Codec).
1. Frist Convert all the footage in Prores HQ.
2. Make ur timeline Prores HQ for editing. If that timeline is very heavy for your system then change the timeline setting to prores proxy.
3. when you finish your editing, change again into prores HQ and render the full timeline.
4. After render finish make in an out and export (command+e for exporting in the default settings) into the same compressor.
5. When exporting is finish open that file into MPEG streamclip and convert your file whatever format you need. it will save your 2hrs time.
