“Extract” tool in FCP as in Media Composer?
Is there an extract option in FCP? For instance, in Media Composer I can set an in and out and then extract just that segment on the track that I have armed and it will ripple down the whole sequence closing the gap. That will work with “delete forward” in FCP if there is only one track, but if I have multiple tracks, FCP will only perform a “lift” when I want it to perform a “delete forward”. I can make it work if I lock all the tracks that I do not want effected by the “delete forward”.
Does anyone know how to do a simple Media Composer-esk “Extract” in FCP?

You can “ARM” tracks in FCP in the same way. The AUTOSELECT buttons are those little rectangles on the timeline next to A1, A2, V1…etc. Turn off the tracks you DON”T want to effect. Then try it.
