    Hello,

Basically after a while today troubleshooting an external monitor from my iMac I have figured out that the vga input into my television goes a red tint and I have no idea why?
I would still like to use the television as another computer monitor but was wondering if vga to hdmi even possible? also it would be going from a mini dvi to vga cable then vga to hdmi cable….so my question is this, is it possible?

NOTE: Would not be using it for colour correction or anything like that just as another screen to cut UNI Projects.

P.S. If you have any clues why only the vga input has a red tint I would be extremely greatful

    Hi Trent,
VGA is a 20 years old standard. Use it only in case you have no other choice.

Possible yes, but why to go VGA if you can go directly DVI-HDMI?

thanks for your advice Rafael, I have decided to buy a brand new samsung 1080p 32inch television because the current lcd i have also has alot of dead pixels in it but it was very cheap ( I guess you get what you pay for).

Anyways I was wondering also if you know if it is possible to view 1920×1200 on my iMac and 1920×1080 on the lcd?

    Hi Trent,
I really don’t know the specs of the Samsung, but about the iMac, if is a 24″ you have a 1920 x 1200 screen.
I’ve to get me one of those big screen too. Lately I’m working with a MBP and is really painful.
    Cheers,
    Rafael

This seems to be a pretty tricky question for a lot of people to answer considering VGA is analog and HDMI is digital. But I think this video clears it up quite a bit. Just click the link below and watch a walk through on how to get the signals converted. This is the only way to do it:
