So I have a DVX100 hooked up to my FCP HD 5.1 system.

When I preview anything there seems to be a lag in time of a few frames, so the audio does not synch up exactly.

Any ideas? Also while I’m here – does anyone know this:

I shot some stuff using a HVX200 on DVCpro50 mode, brought it into FCP and am previewing it in a DVCpro50 timeline, but I am using a DVX100 to preview it out to my NTSC monitor. My question is: am I seeing the full quality image? I ask this because the camera is not capable of shooting DVCpro 50 but I was told it is the limitation of the tape – not the camera, so what amd I seeing in my preview? DVCpro 50 or 25?

    thanks

There is always a lag when viewing video through the firewire. To sync up your audio to your video you should be listening through speakers plugged in to your deck/camera.

Or set “mirror” playback and “frame offset” in wildly different places in Preferences – sorry I can’t look now.
