    Selecting POSTION of graphic element on one layer that I want to move UP/DWN from audio on Audio Amplitude layer.
    I keep getting a “After Effects warning: Object of type Layer found where a Number, Array, or Property is needed. Error occurred at line 0. Expression Disabled.”

    Graphic Element Layer “Controller 2”
    Position
    Expression: Position pickwip reads “thisComp.layer(“Audio Amplitude”)”

    any (more) help!

    thanks for your time.

    You’re pickwhipping the Audio Amplitude layer instead of one of the sliders in the layer. Pickwhipping a slider still probably won’t give you what you want. You’re probably looking for something more like this:

    mult = 5.0;
    y = thisComp.layer(“Audio Amplitude”).effect(“Both Channels”)(“Slider”);
    value + [0,y]*mult

    YES! Thank you. I didn’t twiddle them down, so I didn’t even see the “slider”. I’ll play around some more and off to the bookstore to try to find something on this that might be able to shine some light on these expressions.

    I’ll try both and see what works best.

    Thanks!
