  • Expresscard slot adapter? No slot on new MacBook Pro

    Hi,

Just realised in my haste to get a new MacBook Pro that it doesn’t have a Expresscard slot! Seeing as I’m using SxS cards and a Kensington Adapter with Transend cards, this poses a slight problem!

What’s the best workaround for this issue? Really want to keep the Transend card in the Kensington adapter at all times as not to wear out the card.

    Thanks.

    Maybe this
    https://www.sonnettech.com/product/echoexpresscard34thunderbolt.html

Time to talk to Sony but that might not be a problem with SDHC adaptors.
SxS Memory Card Compatibility—The Sony® SxS Mac OS driver does not currently support the Echo ExpressCard/34 adapter. SxS cards may become compatible, when and if Sony makes available an updated driver that is Thunderbolt technology aware. Sonnet apologizes for your inconvenience if you purchased the Echo ExpressCard/34 Adapter to ingest SxS media.

Nope. Not supported for SxS cards 🙁

    Back to drawing board!

This one doesn’t work with SXS cards either 🙁

At this rate, I’m going to have to call Apple and cancel my order and get a 17inch instead

I just picked up a slightly battered 15″ MBP for very little money. It was one of the last ones that came with an ExpressCard slot. I’m planning to use this used MBP to carry into the field on shoots for off-loading my SxS cards and leave my pristine 17″ MBP at home. So, maybe you can find a nice clean used one OR just get the Sony USB card reader (SBAC US-10). Only downside is the reader needs AC power.
