Express Pro and DV50
Hi there.
I need to move a project that will be captured in DV50MXF on a symphony over to my laptop (with external Firewire 800 of course) and had a few questions. I will NOT be using a Mojo.1- Am I correct in that the AXP MUST have MXF media and will not work with OMF?
2-Will DV50 play off of a single (obviously unstriped) firewire800 drive?
3- Multicam on AXP – will it do 9 streams or only 4? AND will it play 4 streams (or 9) in DV50 or should I capture at DV25?
I don’t really have any experience with AXP but have lots of experience on composer and symphony. I would use the standalone MC software but don’t want to spend 5k.

No. AXP handles OMF and MXF. You decide which you want in your project settings.

I’d think so. I’ve played 2:1 off firewire so I imagine DV50 wouldn’t be a problem..

If it doesn’t play DV50 well, transcode to DV25, cut your multicam, delete the DV25 and relink to DV50.

Accidentally deleted part of my post before I posted it! In answer to multicam–AXP does 4 streams, not 9.

Thanks for your fast response. I figured that AXP only did 4 multicam streams , and everything else is also pretty much what I though.Thanks again…
