Express Pro 5.8.0 Won’t Render
I am trying to render a pan and zoom effect from BCC on my avid. The effect will not render. The only way I can get it to come out the way I want is to do a video mixdown of my 60 second project. This a real pain. I have tried rendering to different drives–internal and external. Even moved my pictures to different drives, re-built my move, tried to render, nothing. I’ve tried rendering the individual effects and doing a render in to out. I get the progress bar and the Avid goes through all the motions like it’s rendering, but when the status bar is done, a stinking blue dot and no effect.

If I go into the effect editor and click on the “render” icon at the lower left, the effect renders fine. Does this make any sense to anyone?
“Render in to out” does not work.
“Render Effect” on my tool bar does not work.
“Render Effect” hot key I placed on F1 does not work.The icon inside the effect editor renders it fine. Why does this make a difference?

Okay the above is partly true. If I go to another sequence, another application, add or delete anything to that sequence, or if I just stare at it long enough, the effect will somehow “un-render” itself.

I could only find spec for 5.7.5 – the highest QT version is 7.2 – you say you are running 7.3. I don’t know if that’s the problem, and I can’t find 5.8 specs.

Michael Hancock post a link to a matrix showing what version of QT you should be running: (you are running the correct version)….
Can you play the effect at all? Have you tried doing a mixdown of just the effect? (mark an in – out on your effect and go to video mixdown)….
