exporting to Quicktime for widescreeen
Posted by Alex Kogan on May 9, 2006 at 8:49 pmI’m trying to export a DV1/DV NTSC 16×9 to a full-res qt movie and the result is a squished 4×3. Is there some setting in AE that I have to click when doing this? Thank you!

May 9, 2006 at 9:06 pmA D1 widescreeen comp is 4×3, it is the non-square pixels that make it widescreen.
Nest your final D1/DV comp into a Square Pixel 16×9 comp and render that.

May 9, 2006 at 9:11 pmActually, this is a NTSC DV Widescreen 720 x 480. When I create a new comp and make it square pix it won’t let me use the widescreen present. What should I make the height and width. Thanks!

May 9, 2006 at 9:16 pmCreate a new comp that is 853×480 SQUARE PIXELS, then drop your 720×480 DV Widescreen comp into it.

May 9, 2006 at 9:41 pmWhen I do this, everything is off center to the left. Will this correct itself in the quicktime file or do i need to move everything?

May 9, 2006 at 9:53 pmNevermind. I cut and pasted. Not nested. I did that and it’s right. Thanks.

May 9, 2006 at 9:54 pmYou should center your DV comp in the Square Pixel comp.
The square pixel comp should actually be 864×480, sorry.
