Exporting to QuickTime — Bad Resulting Aspect Ratio
I’m trying to do something very simple — export a short sequence form Final Cut 4.5, shot and captured in DV NTSC at 4:3. Since I get an error message on my Compressor when I export to it (another issue for another day) I export to QuickTIme, but the resulting file is not 4:30, but “squeezed’ from the left and right sides, making a square, and distorted, image.
What am I doing wrong, please? Thanks very much. best, Rob

When you have your QuicktimePro movie open, go up to the top where the word WINDOW is, pull down to Show Movie Properites … then find the section in that window near the upper half called VIDEO TRACK… then highlight the words VISUAL SETTINGS. You will then see the option SCALED SIZE.
Put in 720 x 480 but make sure the Preserve Aspect Ratio is unchecked first…Hope this helps!
