    Hey FCP experts,

quick question and looking for advice- got a client that wants to take a FCP sequence and export it to Flach Video (.FLV). What’s the best way to do this COST EFFECTIVELY? I ask because I don’t do this often and therefore would like to avoid paying $200-300 for a filmfix plugin or whatever. A $40-50 program or plugin I would consider, and I also have some time to do this so multi steps not a problem also.

I have the following software to help–

    FCP studio
    After effects 7
    Quicktime pro with Flip4Mac
Flash MX (if its a matter of dragging the file into this program and converting, a tutorial would help. Thanks!)

    thanks for any ideas.

    Rick

    Rick,

The software you mentioned, FlixPro or whatever is the cheapest Flash encoder I know of. You may have to find a local web guy who could make your file for you.

    Rick,

FTP the footage to me and I’ll encode to Flash for you using Flip Pro. Then you just charge the client… Drop me a message if you’re interested at info at (drwfilms dot com).

Easiest thing is to go to adobe.com and download the trial of flash. I believe it’s fully functional. It will put a flash export option in your qt export dialog. It also comes with a separate flash video encoder program. The export dialog has a few presets and they’re pretty decent. It’s easy to use as well.

    David flip4mac support .flv exports?

    I didn’t know that.

I usually just export a 320×240 animation file and hand it off to my web guy who encodes it with Flash MX.

[Borjis] “David flip4mac support .flv exports?”

No Chris, actually I was supposed to have typed Flix Pro. Its a great Flash encoder by ON2 Technolgies, the folks who created the VP6 Flash codec that is used in all of the leading today’s encoding apps.

The cheaper version is called Flix 8 Exporter. It costs $199 for the export codecs.

It works very well. You can use it anywhere you can export a program, even in Compressor 3.01.

    Wayne,

While Flix Exporter has the convenience of exporting from FCP, QT and Compressor, it does not have all of the fine tuning that Flix Pro has, nor does it have skins with player controls that Flix Pro offers.

True…. but I leave that to the web guys.

I’m sure this will work for Rick’s needs. We’d all love to have the best toys but sometimes we have to live with some things that we can afford.

I thought Flash MX was capable of converting QT to flv’s. Why not use that?
