  • Exporting stills with alpha channel

Every time I render a still with an alpha channel, to be brought into Photoshop, it opens with a black background. In the preview view in OSX, it shows up on a white back ground, obviously indicating that the alpha information is there. I am rendering with ‘Millions Colors +’ out of the queue. This problem is consistent when I render as a TIFF or as a PSD. I am guessing that this has something to do with Photoshop. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Try Composition -> Save Frame As -> Photoshop Layers

That did it – thanks! Still gotta wonder why the alpha isn’t preserved when rendered that way though.

The alpha is preserved, its just that Alpha channels are different from photoshop transparency channels. Check the channels palette in Photoshop for the Alpha.
