Exporting .srt sidecar file? (Or workaround)
Hey all – I have a question about exporting .srt files from Premiere Pro CC.
My place of work captures captions via an AJA io 4K. Those end up as .scc files, which we then drop over the corresponding QuickTime video files in Premiere. I’m looking for a way to export those captions as .srt files. When I go to File > Export and look under the Captions tab in the Export Settings window, the only Sidecar File formats I can select from are .scc, .mcc, .xml, and .stl. However, Adobe’s “Premiere Pro Help / Working with Captions” page (https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/working-with-captions.html) states that “You can also export closed caption data to an open caption file (SRT file format).”
Am I missing something? Is it possible to export caption files as .SRTs in Premiere? If not, does anyone know of a good third-party workaround for this problem? My supervisor has tried a few different open-source programs, but since we’re a Mac-based operation, most of the ones he tired are a little buggy. Any insight is appreciated!
