exporting QT to pro tools
Hi guys,
I’ve been trying to import a QT into a Pro Tools version 7.1 as a reference file for an audio mix.
I’ve tryed to export from Final Cut Pro (version 6) many different types of QT with different compressors, but they either cannot be imported into Pro tools or they are out of synch randomly in various parts (only in parts!).
My FCP sequence is HDV 1080i50
Any suggestions on the settings I should export my QT with?

I simply send an H.264 to our Sound Designer and he has not reported any issues with those in ProTools. He’s been doing our sound mix for two years with those.
I export my timeline as a reference file, then use Compressor to turn it into an H.264 making sure to maintain the exact same frame rate as my original timeline.

A sound mixer we use needs a .dv stream file which you can get through exporting via Quicktime Player. Anything else I give him just gets converted anyway to a .dv file (which is different than a dv codec mov) so I usually just do it for him to save a bit of time oh his end.
Export a reference movie from FCP, open that movie in Quicktime, then choose ‘movie to dv stream’ from the export settings.
