[paul roubicek] “the footage is 1440×1080 and time line the same”

There is part of your issue. You must have captured your HDV to ProRes using Firewire so it retained the anamorphic 1440×1080 instead of square pixel full raster 1920 x 1080 that ProRes is expecting. ProRes is a full raster codec, so when editing in an anamorphic frame size with ProRes, you can get degredation in your image.

Now if you ONLY looking at your computer screen and you see this break up with camera movement and fast movement in the action, then this is normal. You’re seeing interlace breakup on your progressive screen.

If this project is to be shown on a DVD via a regular television, then you MUST be working on an FCP system with a standard external monitor. This is a must when working with interlaced material as you absolutely can not judge interlaced material via a computer monitor.

    Hi Guys

Thanks for the information, makes more sense, but still have the problem.

as to questions from you all

l am using my mac book pro for my whole edit/Project no external drives at all

the HDV 1080i 60 footage was taken in via fire wire (Sony) into ProRes 422, (l had only 2 options in this either HQ or normal with HDV Footage no ProRes options to change frame size etc l took Normal after advice

    So my question please are

should l export as another format when exporting my Completed/rendered time-line to the quicktime file (.Mov) will this fix the problem?

should l be making my sequence into another format when editing if l capture my footage HDV1080i60 into ProRes 422 via fire wire 1440×1080? is what l have

Should l Capture as something different?

what is the best way for me to get the same quality and crispness as my current completed Project Canvas shows into a quicktime file? so l can make a HD you tube clip/HD Web Clip and Great DVD with top quality the length of my Project is short at 1.45

Whats the best setting to use for making my

    1.HD You Tube Clip
2.HD Web Clip (for web site)
    3.Highest quality DVD

thanks to all look forward to your further advice

and to those that read and can’t help have a great and happy new year for 2011

    regards Paul

I don’t know if you still need help, a year later, but I’m guessing your sequence settings are incorrect. Go to Sequence -> Settings and adjust them.
