Exporting problems, both to AE and PS
So I’m having some trouble exporting to both after effects and also photoshop, I’ve looked around online and nothing has solved my problem
for photoshop, I need the render to not have a background, or one that is separate from the rest. I’ve looked here https://www.tutorialized.com/view/tutorial/Saving-your-render-for-Photoshop/5755 and also a few other places but it’s still not coming out right. I can get it to have an alpha channel in PS, but that doesn’t help me separate the object from C4D from it’s background.
Then for after effects, I’ll go in to the render settings and composite project for AE and it’ll come out as an aec. just as this post said https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/2/913180#913180 but it’ll come up as an error and say “can’t import file, unsupported filetype or extension”
any help with either of these would be great, and sorry if this has been beaten in to the ground, I’ve looked but nothing has solved my problem

For your first problem – C4D>PS. Are you using a background element as part of your scene? Basically, make sure whichever object you want to render out as an image to Photoshop is the only object that is being rendered. Make sure ‘alpha channel’ is checked in your C4D save settings in the renders settings. Also make sure your are exporting an image that carries an alpha channel (tga, psd, tif…). Bring that rendered image into Photoshop and check your channels, you should have a clean alpha for the object.
For the second problem, you need the proper plugin from Maxon installed in your After Effects folder, or the system won’t recognize the .aec file.

thanks! the after effects plug in worked perfectly, there are still some things I’ll have to learn to make it right but that was the ticket.
I’m still having trouble getting the alpha to work well, I’ve come up with a decent work around but I’m still getting a cutout that’s not very believable.
