  • Exporting native AVI files.

    Hi everyone,

Just want to double check that my thinking is correct.

I’m capturing PAL DV via Firewire.

Vegas saves the capture as an AVI file.

I want to ‘export’the native AVI’s from the timeline.

I’m assuming that the correct way to do this is to simply render out as a Microsoft AVI / Pal DV Widescreen. Am I right?

When rendering out this way, the preview window says ‘No recompression required’.

Is this the correct way to export from the timeline and keep the file in their native format?

Why? Why are you asking the question? What is goiung to be your final distribution method?

If you are exporting those files natively…
Rendering out as AVI-PAL DV would be it.
When you see “no recompression required” when rendering,
that is good, it means the video is not being
reprocessed. This is a wonderful feature called
    smart rendering.

The thing now is, what is your final project destined for?

Final distribution is going to be SD DVD. That part of it isn’t a problem.

I just wanted to assemble a bunch of clips on my timeline and render it out as an AVI and don’t want to lose quality in the process.

Thanks everyone for your help 🙂
