Exporting Issues

hm, where to begin.
i’ve tried nesting the clips into another sequence and that doesn’t help.
when i try to edit the timecode it says something different in the settings than is actually playing in the canvas window. it says In: 3:37:33 when it’s actually supposed to be 2:46:12. and it previews as the latter but exports as the former.
does any of this make sense? i’m kind of new to the program

i really wish i knew how to respond to this post.
my sequence settings are 1280 x 720 HDTV 720p (16:9)
Video Compression Apple ProRes 422.

Clip Settings:
In: 3:37:03 (Wrong)
Out: 3:56:00 (Wrong)

Are your vid clips also the same?
You have realtime playback without issue?
You choose file export, using “current Settings”
You go to the desktop and play the new movie file?
Just trying to understand the problem.

Have you set in and out points for exporting as well?

and i’m at a complete loss as to what to do. i’ve done plenty of videos like this in the past with no problem.

I’ve definitely marked my ins and outs. the problem is that it previews as one thing and then exports as another.
it’s a series of clips from a .mov file that was converted from a .avi. i tried to start over again and got the same results. i’m beginning to think that it’s my video file that’s messing things up.
the timing on all the clips shifts a few seconds upon export.

Be more specific. Exactly what codec is the .mov? As has been written here thousands of times, there are many, many flavors if .mov files (Quicktimes files), but not all are editing codecs that FCP recognizes.

Check the compressor column in the FCP browser. If it lists your file as an h.264 file, you converted improperly.
