  • Exporting HDV to wmv losing sync

    G’day there,

I have been having trouble exporting from an FCP HDV sequence to wmv through Flip4Mac. (Sorry about the alphabet soup)

Never used to have trouble when I was using Blackmagic DV50 codec but ever since HDV became my “format of choice” have had this problem. Please note there isn’t a problem exporting through compressor to create DVDs. I did use a workaround for a while – export QT or AVI then do a conversion – but I’m now having sync trouble with that process.

I went through the F4M people some time ago and sent many sample files but never had a consistent solution.

Most of the clips I’m exporting are only about 1 – 2 minutes and I’m using basic settings of CBR 300, 320×180 although in the current (now overdue) project I want to make big files that will play back from PC laptops in high resolution.

    Equipment-wise I’m on a G5 2Gb dual processor with max RAM.

Any help/advice will be much appreciated.

    Jack

Do you have a flip4mac license?

I do it all the time from my timeline, in HD.

I would also beef up your settings, if you want your product to be quality.

Bigger frame size, 640×480 at least.

    higher data rate. 1k minimum.
