  • Exporting HDV from FCP to play on Mac or PC

I am currently working on Final Cut Pro, using HDV. I can export and play my footage and watch it fine on my 2 apple computers. However, when I attempt to watch the .mov file on a PC it only plays the audio. I need to get a full quality version of my project to a client who will need to access the file on PC or Mac. I know I can make it an MPEG-4, but I would lose some quality that way and can’t afford to.

    Any suggestions? Thanks

Get your PC client to download a decent free video player like VLC that has the HDV codec and can play quicktimes. Quicktime 7 player for PC also can handle HDV on PCs and yes it is also free.

Windows Media player is limited in codecs and best avoided.
