Exporting halves my resolution
Hi folks — I’m new to Premiere Pro, coming from Final Cut like so many.
I want to burn preview DVDs for a 70 minute project I’m working on, but I’m concerned that I’m already on the wrong track. It seems like the bridge from PPro to Encore is downgrading my image.
When I’m in Premiere Pro, and I select my Sequence in the Project window, the info in the box above it says what I think it should:
1920×1080 (1.0)
2607+23, 23.976fps
48000 hz – stereo
(though I actually don’t know what 2607+23 means)However, when try to Export it as a quicktime file, or send it to Encore (via File/ Adobe Dynamic Link /Send to Encore) the New Project dialogue box that opens in Encore says I’m working with transcode settings dimensions of 720×480. And that’s what I got from the Export-to-Quicktime as well.
The other settings are in the Encore box DVD; NTSC; Codec:MPEG-2, FrameRate 29.97; Lowerfield first, dolby digital, and bit rate of 8.0 mbps.The Advanced tab is grayed out.
What am I doing wrong?
Using Premiere Pro via CS 5.5
iMac OS 10.8.5
3.2 GHz Intel Core i5
8 GB memory, 1600 mhz DDR3 -

DVD’s are not HD.

I see. But that doesn’t explain why I can’t export at that resolution to a quicktime file (or does it?)
What are my options for export? It seems like this should be more cut and dried than it is…

Encore will transcode your files into standard definition if you try to make a DVD. If you wan’t an HD disc you need to get a blu-ray burner and make a blu-ray.
