  • Exporting from FCP to DV-AVI

Posted by Luke Price on April 4, 2007 at 11:17 am

I have a client who requires a DV-AVI file of the finished film.

I can’t find the options to do this in Compressor and my attempts to use Export>Quicktime Conversion have resulted in good pictures but completely out of sync by about a second or more.

    Thanks

    Hi Luke,
Download MPGStreamclip. Is a great piece of software. Free from the web (google MPGStreamclip).

    In Quicktime

    1. File>Export
    2. Movie to AVI in the Export option at bottom
    3. Click Options button
    4. Click Settings
    5. Change Cinepak to DV/DVCPRO-NTSC

that will work, but choosing DV-PAL will result in skipped frames. if you are working with PAL, then save it first as a standard Quicktime MOV file (Export > Quicktime Movie), then use MPEG Streamclip’s “File > Export to AVI” method with Compressor set to Apple DV PAL in the Export window.
