    Exporting from Edit Suite

    Hi, we are running Media 100i/xs with 8.2.2 and OS 10.3.9 on a G4 Dual 1 Ghz Processor, 1.5 Gb DDR SDRAM and 2 – internal Sata 400Gb HDs. We are attempting to export from edit suite in QT H.264 to then burn to DVD. Is this process extremely slow by default with Media 100 or are we doing someting wrong in the set-up? We have a 55mins show in 720×480 with audio and the G4 has been crunching for 19hours now and it is still going.

    Export from edit suite by ref (extremely fast), then encode with bitvice or toast (or DVD studiopro but with this one you have to check before the black levels of your clip), then author in DVDSP and burn. Why H. 264?

    h.264 uses a multi-pass encoding algorithm, so it’s going to be pretty slow, especially on your old G4.
