  • Exporting DVCPro HD into a PC friendly (playback) codec

This isn’t for importing into Premiere or anything..
I’m just looking for recommendations for what the ideal codec/format options are on exporting a full size DVCPro HD 720p (1280×720) clip to a universally compatible format that plays smoothly on most computers, especially PC’s. I realize processor speeds and such play a big factor, but
It seems ‘jumpy stuttery playback’ issues are a big problem with other (non Mac) users regardless of what i export to (Sorenson V3, H264, Mpeg4) especially when the image window is re-scaled.
And i’m speaking of those with fast PC’s, (2-8 core) plenty of RAM, etc. I haven’t experimented around much but it seems PC’s just don’t like Quicktime formats.

i realize exporting to a full size (1280×720) image and re-scaling windows is part of the problem, especially with older computers. But this is precisely what I need to do, retain the full HD size/quality for large HD monitors that can be re-scaled and retain the nice smooth playback.

    Many thanks for any suggestions
    DP
