exporting a 720p 59.94 blackmagic10bit 4:4:4 RGBcodec
We shot a film with the Panisonic Vari Cam and have completed editing. we are ready for exporting the 12 minute film from FCP 5.0.3 using black magic 10bit 4:4:4 RGB codec. FCP is telling me that the 12 minute film will take 4 days to export. Does this sound right? Any ideas?

Wow! That sounds slow. We just tried rendering out 2 minutes of DVCPRO HD material to the Blackmagic 4:4:4 RGB codec and it took about 8 minutes on G5/2.7 GHz dual processor machine with 2 GB of RAM on the internal hard disk.
Even on a much older G5, the results should be much better than 4 days! I’m not sure what is causing your slowdown. Restarting seems to be the magical cure for many things and might be a good place to start. It would also be interesting to open a captured clip in to QuickTime Pro and render out of it. Does it take as long?

Thanx for the advice above. I now have a new issue with the same 12 minute film. When the film is done exporting, instead of having a 12 minute film it only exported 4 minutes. The exporting codec that was uesed, 720p 59.94 blackmagic10bit 4:4:4 RGB and the target hard drive is an internal 250gig,plenty of room. any ideas?
