I have several NTSC quicktimes that are 4×3 letterboxed. I am currently trying to compress them into h264 movs with 16×9 aspect ratios for the web ( ie restore the material’s native aspect ratio). no matter what i do, i have interlacing issues.
i tried creating a fcp sequence with the final output dimensions and placing the footage in at %100 scale, which looked great. but every time i export using quicktime conversion, the interlacing goes haywire.

is there some basic way of exporting a 4×3 letterboxed quicktime as a letterbox-free 16×9 web compression?

    thanks,

    ben
