Well, video is going though dvi and audio through your mac. I don’t know, never monitored that way.

Test it for the whole 100 minutes.

I may get shouted down for this so apologies if so, but I think DVI actually carries audio in it’s signal – as unbelievable as this may sound give it a try.

Sorry – DVI doesn’t carry audio.

Have a word with the guys at Matrox, they may say something different.

If you are referring to the MXO, the audio runs through USB.

Really, which Matrox product are you alking about? I’m not trying to start a fight, I just want to make sure that we’re not confusing anyone.

    Thanks,

The Matrox MXO. It extracts audio from the DVI port as well as video. Because with the one DVI connection (USB connection for data management) it can output audio via HD SDI or RCA outs. But AFAIK this is the only device that can do this.

Hmmm… seems strange. I don’t see anywhere in the spec where this makes sense… then again, I just assumed that Matrox used a standard DVI connection. I guess it’s like Viewcast’s IEEE1394 implimentation… not quite standard.

    Thanks Shane,

That means that audio would be coming out of the Mac’s DVI port. I had no idea the graphics card was an audio card too. It’s news to me if it’s true.

That’s why I mentioned it. The DVI connection on the mac seems to be outputting audio. I don’t know the science but it seems to work.
