April 5, 2008 at 10:56 pmI need to make a DVD of my HD project and am getting less than favorable results. I created an SD sequence and copied the content from my original HD sequence into the SD sequence. The settings Im using in the SD sequence are……
Frame size= 640×480 NTSC 4:3
pixel aspect. = square
field dom. = noneqt video settings = uncompessed 8 bit
The quicktime I get has lots of jaggies in the straight lines during movement. What am I doing wrong. I need the finished DVD to be letterboxed in 4×3. When I make a QTR out of the HD sequence in looks really good.
Any help would be great.

April 5, 2008 at 11:33 pmThere’s no need to do the downconverting in FCP. Export a HD QT file and take it directly to DVD Studio Pro.
Also, I’d suggest authoring this in 16×9. When viewed on a 4×3 TV, the DVD Player will automatically do the letterboxing.

April 6, 2008 at 12:08 amThanks. Im trying this now. One question. My goal here is to deliver a letterbox version of my project to a cable company that wants this video on a DVD. They are going to edit the video I give to them. If it wasn’t HD this would be easier. This is not a very good way to give video for broadcast but thats what they want so I need to make it for them as requested. I don’t know if I’m making this more difficult than it needs to be by using DVDSP but if I could just get the video on a dvd without the menus and such that would be great. I did try idvd but that looked bad from the SD sequence. Should I just get a dvd recorder and burn it that way. I could just hook it up to my kona card and play the sequence out of FCP. What do you think would be the best way.
