Exported MPG playback problems in WMP
This is a problem I don’t recall experiencing with older versions of Premiere; it also can be averted by using a different media player, such as VLC. That being said, suggesting the use of a different media player only masks the problem, it does not solve it.
Windows 7 64-bit
Windows Media Player 12
Premiere Pro CS 5.5.2Exporting any sequence to any type of multiplexed .mpg results in a file that experiences infrequent but noticeable skipping/hitching/jumping in both the audio and the video. Exporting to de-multiplexed streams and then multiplexing them in a program like TMPGEnc creates a file that plays smoothly with no skipping.
I would like to enlist the help of the community to figure out exactly what the problem is – not to find a cumbersome workaround. I need to ensure that .mpg playback exported from Premiere – for distribution purposes – is compatible with any basic media player, especially the one included in the Windows OS.
Edit: .m2t (MPEG2 Blu-Ray) files do not seem to be suffering from this playback issue.
