    Hey guys,

I use to export from FCP via network to mac formatted HD plugged into a Windows computer using MacDrive. Most of the time it works great. But what I find annoying is that the exported quicktime file is always split into multiple 2GB files, instead of only one file as exported directly on Mac FW drives, why ?

Also, sometimes, FCP gives me a “General error” when I export that way (Mac FW drive, Windows, network) but will be ok when exported on the Windows IDE NTFS drive.

I know this more a OS than FCP question, but maybe someone has experienced this in the past.

    Thanks!
    Pete

Windows limit is 2GB files. There is a way to format the newer Windows OS to allow larger files sizes, but I honestly don’t know what that is.

Well, that’s something I was aware of, but I can copy a file as large as 60GB and more. I just can’t while exporting from FCP…

That sounds like a drive formatted FAT32. Are you sure the FW drive is formatted Mac HFS+?
