July 8, 2010 at 12:15 amTried Compressor Repair – doesn’t work with my version.
Reinstalled Compressor and QMaster.
When running Software Update (as recommended in Apple Support file), came up with Compressor 2.3
and QMaster 2.3 (my previously installed versions were 2.0).
It also came up with Quick Time 7.6.6, and my current QT is 7.6.4.I probably should upgrade the first two, but what about Quick Time?
I know that one should be careful about upgrading QT as QT is linked to FCP (in my case 5.1.4).
Am I safe with proceeding with QT upgrade as well? Thanks

July 8, 2010 at 12:20 amThanks Stephen.
I’ll try again as soon as I complete reinstalling / updating Compressor.
I think you are right, if I can remember from my first attempt. It only gives first default
ratio of 320×180 and when you choose other setting there on the left it switches to
640×360.Waiting for Jeremy’s advice on updating QT (post above) to try again.

They do indeed! Finally fixed it.
But not without another puzzle:
After reinstalling everything, launched Compressor again and noticed straight away that my Custom Preset
was still there??
Soon I discovered a folder called Previous System and inside another application folder and (probably created byApple technicians when my MacBook Pro was sent for service – unknown problems, turned out to be matherboard problem). See picture attached. On top of that I discovered that most of my packages are actually there and that’s why my first reinstallation didn’t work.
My new question is; Can I now go and delete those extra Applications and can I transfer my packages from that duplicate Library folder into my regular (which one is really regular) Library folder.
You might have noticed as well that my FC Studio applications from that fantom Application folder all
have that Stop sign (crosse circle) on top of their application Icon. I subsequently trashed those of Compressor and QMaster. Thanks

July 8, 2010 at 3:38 amIt’s OK to delete previous systems and update your applications.
That previous system isn’t doing anything but taking space. I wouldn’t move any packages.
