Posted by Tielman Dewaele on August 21, 2008 at 8:04 am

    Hey,
A view days ago a posted something similar:

Im working on an edit in FCP. Several shots need to have animations.
The footage is shot on digi-beta. The edit was made on a Macpro(maxtor system). Here i got a intensity BM card.
I need to export about 50 clips. But each clip, as i export looks terrible inside AE.
For example there are some helicopter shot where i need make it game-like.
No mather in what format i render it looks terrible.
    The footage(in FCP) is DVCPRO50-PAL 7,1mb 720*576.
I rendered current settings(self containded), conversion DVCPRO50, None,..
    Nothing does it.

I need to mention, i recently reinstalled osx leopard. Dont have quicktime pro(but i had before i had the problem),…

    Please help.
Im working in AE with the bad looking clips, but it aint getting me further.

But look bad in which way? Fuzzy? Blocky? Artifacts?
What kind of screen are you using for monitoring?

    Thx for answering.
Most of them look tirrible even looking with quicktime.
Especialy with DV50 codec exporting out of FCP.
I tried IMX50 and looks ok now.
When i double click in AE on the file it looks ok aswell.
When i drag(or make a new comp) the footage looks bad & rendering out also.

With looking bad i mean quality loss.

I had never this problem before.

I monitering with a JVC with a intensity pro card.

Now at the moment im working on Laptop without, because my macpro just crashed(what a day!)

Ive seen the footage on the JVC this morning=bad

Don’t know what to tell you.
Just make sure that AE is rendering with the best setting.
    AE shouldn’t degrade the footage.
